I’ve also been listening to some of the back catalogue. For instance, Episode 2, the “Welcome Meeting” chat is really useful for newbies like me. I’ll be working through a few more episodes too. I can’t think of any other resource as useful as this on t’internet.

Listened from E1, left a consolidator & set up my own company with ‘Valleypath’! Life changing…keep up the great work 👏🏼👏🏼

i've been a financial planner for 29 years but i have learnt lots from this podcast. they may be irascible, irreverent and opinionated but they are passionate, unapologetic and fun. i am so glad i found this podcast and i've recommended it to many others. keep going chaps, you're awesome.

Long time listener of TRAP so thanks for all the content you and the chaps are putting out as it’s invaluable and is helping me in my journey. All the best.
-
I'm an avid listener of TRAP - thanks for your support within our industry. Something you said that's really helped me was your comment 'fit in or f*ck off' - love it. All the best.

Nick — really lovely to meet you earlier. Would love to chat more, meet again. HUGE respect to you guys - the podcast is insanely good/valuable.

A brilliant and quality podcast that has provided the perfect fuel as I immerse myself back into the profession. I am returning after 9 years away and TRAP has been a fantastic help in bringing me back up to speed. Genuinely insightful and entertaining every time.

I own a small IFA practice in Carlisle and this brilliant Podcast helps me to keep up to date on relevant advisory issues and topical events. Great content, keep up the good work!
-
Refreshing, honest and entertaining. Every episode leaves me smarter, slightly more cynical, and weirdly craving a pint. This is the only CPD I actively enjoy. Thank you horsemen.

I can’t begin to imagine how many people these 4 have helped indirectly through the wisdom they share with their audience. Genuine thanks to the TRAP pack. If you work in financial advice and haven’t been listening to the TRAP (The Real Adviser Podcast), you’re missing out. One of the best, if not the best, resources out there for Advisers. Part insight, part entertainment, always relatable. Whether it’s challenging industry norms, sharing practical tips, or just making you laugh on your commute, this podcast delivers every time. Massive thanks to the team behind it! Alan Smith, Andy Hart , Carl Widger & Nick Lincoln

Rather than listening to the nagging voices in my head, listening to TRAP is has been a far better use of time when on long drives to help me to become a better financial planner. While I spend my days trying to help clients have money peace of mind, this podcast provides me with clarity and peace of mind that I am keeping up to date with this great profession. No bulls***, just four experienced experts in the field who share their wisdom, laughs and stories on what matters in the investment and financial planning world. Nothing else seems to compare. 6 stars!

Started listening to TRAP a month before launching my own IFA firm 2 years ago. Immediately booked onto DFA course. Took away all the hassle of working out an investment proposition, allowing me to focus on the important stuff. Never under estimate the impact you have on the community. Heartfelt thanks to you all. Sound quality excellent too 😬

Stumbled upon this podcast and this has been incredible for me. I’m a 29 year old IFA just closing in on the end of my first year in the role. Of all the financial advice related content I’ve found this is by far the best. The conversation is engaging, it’s easy to listen to, fingers on the pulse, always relevant and there’s even a few chuckles along the way. I find myself relating to and agreeing with a lot of what is said in the show, as well as challenging my own thoughts at times. More than anything it makes me excited and proud to be part of the wave of the next generation of planners coming through. You have been recommended to all my colleagues and any of my network with two ears that work! Keep up the good work and keep inspiring!

Just want to say thank you so much for TRAP, I’ve been following the podcast for a while now its been one of the best learning resources for me so far

The best compendium of knowledge anywhere on how to be a successful Financial Adviser in the UK for 2025. So many thanks to the TRAP Pack.

Love your work gents. As a relatively recent Trappist - Ep(iphany).71 - I was initially a bit sceptical, having enjoyed Nick's and Alan's various LinkedIn rants over the years I assumed this might be a watered-down, homogenised protein shake of a podcast but, to my great relief, you're all just as opinionated, irreverent and outspoken as I had hoped. The content is excellent with some very pertinent views and practical take-aways in every episode. There needs to be a new category on the CII site - Chaotic, Unstructured but Mandatory CPD with a direct link to the podcast. Bravo chaps, 6 out of 5!

I just wanted to thank and tell you what the impact has been from a couple of your suggestions on TRAP. I'm looking to move into financial advice following redundancy from another industry… Whilst studying and taking the exams this year I've been catching up on TRAP and I'm up to episode 71. It's really helped me see what's actually important over and above what I've had to learn for the exams. In an early episode you were asked what you'd do differently if you started now and Alan and Nick mentioned picking a niche. I've done that and it's made my business plan much stronger.

[I] listened to one episode, thought it was so good [I] went back to the beginning and listened to them all...thank you for the Pod, its been an invaluable resource to me (as is the IFA forum which I am part of and again, seeing the nuts and bolts questions is so valuable). I love the raw unvarnished nature of it, please never change and please keep them coming. Once I am signed off, I hope to post a pithy (and much shorter) question that gets read out on the show. We all need our goals!

Having been told about the podcast by a fellow adviser a few months ago, I am officially hooked. Love listening to you all and always nice to hear some of my internal thoughts being echoed by 4 titans of industry. I felt compelled to finally write in after hearing Carl's beautiful dedication to his Dad and family. Having lost my Dad in 2021 and inheriting his firm, after only working with him since 2015, I know all too well the impact of trying to run a business, whilst simultaneously losing your idol and role model. He would have turned 67 today. People will tell me how lucky I am to now have what I have (the firm, the business, the income etc), but to echo Carl's sentiments, I just miss my Dad. Keep doing what you're doing guys, it's bloody brilliant. See you at TRAP Live!

Thank you to the TRAP team for giving so much of your time, wisdom and banter to our profession - you are the best resource in the industry and you are making a difference not just at home but globally. The TRAP Academy is an absolute must - it will be world class training for a global industry sorely in need of it. Will be worth every penny it will cost! * *Jacqui McQuillan, Elcho Wealth, Singapore

I said to Alan Smith recently that I am not sure you fully appreciate the influence you (NICK), Andy Hart and Carl Widger are having on the minds and conscience of financial planners across the UK. The shift is happening. More advisers are recognising that FFFP is not a marketing slogan. It is a professional standard. And they want to practise properly.
